There Are Various Ways We Can Work Together...

Option 1

Hourly System
(Please call/email to discuss rates)

  • Use the hourly system above to pay for a few hours.

  • The hourly discount system can be used if you need me to work in your office -or to pay for an account (see below).

Option 2

Quotes:

Picture

  • If I can give you a quote, then I will (or you can opt for the Account / Hourly system explained below).

  • Please enquire providing the requested information (above) about your project.

Option 3

-Day Rates: For Working in Offices
or In-Person With Clients...

(Based on Hourly Rates & Discounts).

  • 1 full 8 hour day:  please enquire

E.g. 9am-6pm = 8 hours of work and one hour unpaid lunch break.

Work days can be in your office or done remotely with communication via Skype (which can be left running, etc).

Discounts apply for clients booking multiple days. Please see the hourly rates below to work out discounts.
(Once you know how many days/hours you want me for, you can work out the hourly rate -or ask and I'll send a quote).

  • E.g. 2 full days (16 working hours) = please enquire

  • 3 full days (24 working hours) = please enquire

  • 7 full days (56 working hours) =  please enquire

  • Please pay in advance to get these discounts.

  • You do not have to use the days consecutively however there will be a time period during which you need to use them, please enquire.

  • Travel fees may be additional (especially if you are booking less than a full day). London: This is often not the case but please enquire.

  • I don't go to people's homes but you can come to my location or we can meet in another location e.g. coffee shop, library, office, etc. Please enquire.

Option 4

Start An Account (Based on Hourly Rates).

Picture

Accounts Explained:

Accounts work like pre-paid tabs.

You choose how many hours of writing/editing that you would like and, when you pay for them, they are added to your account.  (The more hours you purchase, the lower the hourly rate -please scroll down for hourly rates). I can guide you as to how many hours you project will need.

Accounts are valid for 3 months from the date that they are opened (i.e. the date the hours are purchased).

BONUS:
With an account you will know that, if the piece takes me less time to write/edit than you have paid for, then you will have the remaining hours left to use. Consequently you can send me documents to write or edit in the future (until the account hours are used up).

Why Accounts are Useful and Why it Can be Hard to Give a Quote:

Working on a price-per-hour basis simplifies things since it is often difficult, or impossible, to initially judge how long a project will take and so to give a quote.

Sometimes, it can take an hour or a few hours to evaluate all the reading and work needed and then come up with a quote. It can be frustrating to invest that time if the client then doesn't book. Consequently I do not invest hours into giving quotes for more complex projects if no commitment has been made on the client's side.

If you prefer an overall quote, and I can judge the time involved very easily, then I will give you a quote. (This sometimes also applies to large pieces of work).

Alternatively I often ask for the first hour, or first few hours, (depending on the complexity of the piece) to be paid for at the hourly rate. After this, I will have a better idea of how long the document will take to write or edit. I can then give a quote for the total cost to write or edit the document.

You will always have the option to use the straightforward and simple hourly account system. The hourly system is the easiest way to make sure that the prices remain fair for both the client and the writer / myself. (With this system I will not over-estimate, or under-estimate how long a project will take as I might with a quote).

Nb. Please take into account the time needed for research when deciding how many hours to add to your account. We can discuss this and I can, in many cases, give you a rough estimate of how long the work will take. I work fast.

Option 5
Price-Per-Word Rates:

  • I have not used this system before but I am happy to consider it for certain projects (e.g. magazine articles).

  • The rate depends upon the assignment & the amount of research needed.

Option 6
Other -Working With Companies:

  • If you are a company who employs journalists and writers then the above methods of working may not apply. (E.g. magazine editor looking for travel writers often pays all of their writers a fixed fee for articles retrospectively).

  • Please contact me to discuss other ways of working together.

Option 7
Co-Writing a Document (In-Person):

Picture

  • For individual clients who require help co-writing a document and who want me to sit with them in person (or via Skype).

  • The rates will be the same as the lesson rates. (Please see the 'Rates for Lessons' tab).

  • If this is a more creative project e.g. co-writing a script for a TV company, then this approach doesn't apply -in this case please call me to discuss ways of working together.

Option 8
Other Writers, Editors and Journalists:

When I am fully booked and unable to personally take on more work, I may be able to offer you the option to use other Writers, Editors and Journalists that I work with.

I will let you know if this is the case -in this case you would make the payment to me and I would pay the Writer/Journalist involved (and outsource your work to them whilst managing the project).

I will spend the time finding a good writer and chasing them up to make sure that you receive quality work back and to make sure that it is received on time. Whilst I cannot take responsibility for someone else's work, I have never yet had a problem with this system and clients have been very happy. I have several trusted writers that I work with and who produce excellent quality work.

If relevant -please send detailed information about your project and I will send you a quote.
